The Smart Surrender

Get Your Confidence Back!
Looking back on my journey, I've come to the conclusion that no one is interested in the mind/body connection.  Some of you may be the exception.  So, you may relate to my story.  This connection exists whether you acknowledge it or not.  Why live by default when you can make it remarkable? So, I say, give this connection your attention because it will save your life.

When I was a mental health therapist, I thought we were working with the mind.  Turns out not. We were working with manipulation.  That's why I didn't last there too long. The mental health profession actually ignores the mind and the body.  Funny I would say that after all these years.  The mental health field was very good at taking away your dignity. Most of us in the profession had no intention of doing that, but it is a system that belittles people and gives up on them.

I see BOTH the mental health field and the rest of mainstream medicine letting us down. I went to school to learn about the mind.  I did that.  Then I went back to school to learn about the body.  Checked that off my list, too.  Our knowledge about the body isn't that impressive either. (Disappointing sigh.)

The link between the mind and body is still ignored.  I thought chiropractic college would honor that link and I would find fulfillment.  And there was failure again. Chiropractic college let me down.

I've seen enough mainstream medicine, mental health care and even modern chiropractic to know we've always cut ourselves short.  We've dropped the ball. We've cheated ourselves. And my journey continued.

I eventually stumbled across the more organized ideas of neuroplasticity and psychoneuroimmunology.  And then I finally realized something.  I knew it instinctively all this time. I had the understanding a long time ago.  I was probably born with it. (You do, too. Reclaim it today.)

Why did I think I needed some type of formal education to confirm this?  Early programming, of course.  That little birdie inside of you that says you need acceptance and approval from some kind of authority.

I wanted acknowledgment of some sort.  There's a foolish idea that your "diamond in the rough" talent will be fostered and fulfilled through higher education.  (Sarcastic laugh.)

Many of my peers said to just get through it, get the degree and then go do what you want to do.  Shocked by their comments I wanted to believe I could glean great clinical pearls from my professors' experiences.

You can't go out into the field without some kind of degree, and the certification that you jumped through the hoops.  And did these hoops help me find what I was searching for? Somewhat...and I've made my peace with it because I have a job to do.  People need their confidence back.

I can only do what I know best, what resonates with my soul.

You can partner with your mind and body or you can be one big cantankerous hindrance to your mind and body.

Sad to say this, but most holistic healers have no idea what it means to partner with the mind and body. It took me a while to get out of that trance, too.

So, how's your journey going?  I just laid it bare here with my confession. Are you ready to upgrade your journey?

Whatever you're dealing with, we can partner with your brain and body rather than feel like we're at battle.  Even if you are using "natural remedies" and it feels like a battle, I have an alternative for you.

There is no battle that needs to be won.  You only need to be a partner.

I teach that.

Can't wait to hear from you.

See you at the table....the chiropractic adjusting table.

Doctors Who Jumped Ship (Part 2: Peter Breggin)

Peter Breggin, M.D., Psychiatrist

Who else made the list?  Check here.

Dr. Breggin deserves to be first on my list because I came across his book Toxic Psychiatry in 1995 when I was in the midst of my own bumpy journey.

Ironically, Dr. Breggin was a psychiatrist who helped me discover the chiropractic profession.  He didn't know it, until I wrote him a letter about 12 years later.

Back when I was working as a mental health therapist I was beginning to spin myself into a cocoon.

Like a maturing caterpillar who needed to face new scenery, I was conflicted by the biological theory that espoused drug therapy to help the brain.  Deep down I knew that was something not for me personally and I was grateful I didn't have a mental illness.

Being a fairly new graduate from my counseling program, I was enthralled with the techniques of Alfred Adler, Albert Ellis, and the Gestalt followers.  I was looking forward to forming the supportive relationship people were lacking in order to help them reach their goals with confidence.

It didn't take me that long to realize my clients were not improving. In general, we were trashing their dignity. My clients were looked down upon.  They were not encouraged to stretch their minds to strive towards a meaningful life of independence.  They were coached to just get through the day and eek out some type of existence on a meager disability payment.  Yes, they were chronically mentally ill with deep patterns of dysfunction, but they were short changed by lazy professional attitudes.

If I had someone in my family struggling with his or her emotional balance  I would be on them like a hawk.  Why?  because I am very wary of the mental health system so I don't want my family member talked into something unhealthy.  Doesn't that sound odd coming from a mental health therapist?  Maybe not.  As someone on the inside, I knew in my heart how I would want myself or a loved one cared for.  Someone in the middle of a personal crisis needs understanding, a thoughtful ear, and reassurance that they are going rise above it with a new strength.

Someone in a fragile state doesn't want to be questioned in an impersonal office setting or emergency room worried that their answers will be misinterpreted.  No one wants to be given a stigmatizing label and treated as if they cannot be trusted.

So, at a time in my life where I was at a crossroads realizing there has to be a better way to reach people, I discover a book by someone with the same idea.

I was in a library one day where Toxic Psychiatry was propped up on a shelf of new releases.  I grabbed it and voraciously read it from cover to cover. Here was a psychiatrist who didn't use psychiatric medications.  It was refreshing and exciting to see my thoughts were validated by someone who has dealt with this longer than I have.

Peter Breggin's book is written in an autobiographical style as he gives a chronological story of his experiences helping people reclaim their lives without the risky option of psychiatric medication.

What struck me with Dr. Breggin's narrative, is that he does not fear people. He is comfortable with them.  He welcomes them and is eager to hear their stories. Doctors are programmed to get to the solution as quickly as possible, which in a psychiatric scenario, it is usually medication or hospitalization.  Dr. Breggin is not in a rush to that kind of treatment.  He is able to draw out of his patient's their strengths and weaknesses so they can work out a therapeutic plan that the person can work through with a clear mind knowing where to go for appropriate support.

Dr. Breggin speaks out about the disabling effects of psychiatric drugs.  These types of drugs do not allow someone to accomplish any goals.  Rather they are numbing to the brain and have unpleasant side effects.  He has been an expert witness for malpractice trials and works tirelessly on reforming psychiatry.

At the time I was considering a career in psychiatry, but his book helped me look elsewhere.  I knew there was an important connection between the mind and the body and I realized I needed to learn more about the physical body.

At my position as a mental health therapist I was frustrated to watch my clients struggle with mental and physical complaints.  The psychiatrist would refer them back to their physicians who would report that blood work and other tests were normal.  When my clients came back to their follow up appointments they would say they are supposedly fine physically so their concerns were all in their head.  They were falling through the cracks and no one could help them.

I had also stumbled into a challenging  experience with situational grief and was offered the same drugs my clients were taking.  After all, there was a lock box full of complementary samples provided by the generous pharmaceutical reps.  My immediate response was a polite, "No, thank you.  I need to feel this.  I need to learn from this."

So that self talk lead me away from the mental health environment on to a drug free path.  Now, I realize I was not prescribing medication to my clients, but it was such a roadblock to helping people learn self management, it could not participate in it or tolerate it.  To me, that was unfair to my clients.  I had to be part of a group that could be free to employ natural means to assist the innate healing ability.

Dr. Breggin's book helped me see there was another niche worth pursuing.  Around 2008 I found out he had relocated from Maryland to New York and I wrote him a letter informing him how influential his personal calling and book were to me.  I met him and his wife, Ginger, some time later.  Their strong desire to relieve people of their emotional and mental suffering keeps them busy. Their perseverance is truly needed in our society.

Doctors Who Jumped Ship (Series Intro)

Welcome to my new series: Doctors Who Jumped Ship.  I have had a long interest in physicians who grew dissatisfied with the medical model as they desired to reform approaches that did more harm than good.

and more .... keep checking for my updates.

A May 23, 2020 PubMed article, Medical Error, sites medical mistakes as one of the leading causes of death in the United States.  Statistics from different years show it has ranged from number 6 to the third cause of death.

When delving deeper into this issue, the most concerning problems are adverse effects from prescribed medications and infections from simple procedures or other surgeries.  Additional contributing factors include failure to diagnose accurately and miscommunication among medical staff, specialists and even family or the patient.

As disconcerting as it is to realize errors can happen, these doctors on my list have spoken out against the underlying dangers of accepted medical treatments that are not beneficial to the patient.  They have gone out of the way to educate the public and offer better alternatives, yet they've dealt with pubic criticism, and some have had to defend themselves from medical board accusations.

As a health professional who practices a drugless healing art, I am constantly dismayed at the speed at which people turn to harmful medications and procedures before they take a deep look at the reasons they developed a health concern.

There are so many noninvasive interventions that are hands on, low tech and very effective.  If people are taught adequate self care, they will discover the empowerment it provides their mental health as well as physical health.

I have a list of doctors who I admire for their experience and courage so that we have better informed consent.  I can only say better because we do not have true, authentic informed consent for many drugs and procedures.

Most people may not know they can decline a procedure and ask for alternatives.  Since most causes of poor health are due to toxins entering our digestive systems, respiratory systems, and our minds, we can alleviate these problems by ceasing the toxic input. But we tend to skip the logical avenue and seek something more dramatic.  I suppose it's human nature to look for a quick fix so one can carry on as business as usual.  We must continue our stressful lives "full steam ahead." Right?  But doctor, from the Latin: docere,  means to teach.  What are we teaching the public?

In my opinion a drug should only be used in the hospital for surgery or trauma care. Once you are discharged from the hospital a truly healthy person should not be sent home with any prescriptions.   If that is the case, the professionals have failed in teaching people how to be healthy. These more delicate, risky procedures should only used as a last resort.

This is the repetitive theme that dates back to the poor health of my grandmother.  I instinctively knew this was not the life she was meant to live.  She was a wonderful grandmother to me despite the decline she suffered.  What about you and your future?

Back to my list.  I will highlight a different doctor every few days in a continuing series on my blog.
Most of them are medical doctors (M.D.) or osteopathic doctors (D.O.).  I have included one or two Ph.D. professionals who also stand on the side of natural, noninvasive healing approaches as the first resort.

I will describe the events that  transformed them.  Faced with ethical dilemmas, they had to chose honest care for their patients and risk career disaster by bucking the system.

Because these folks have jumped ship, some of them no longer practice medicine but speak out in defense of health freedom.  Some have developed a new niche for themselves in a way that allows them to help more people than their previous positions. Their stories should be inspirational because we can do the same.  We can stand up to common sense and empowering approaches.

Be sure to check in regularly to stay up to date with my list.

Peter Breggin, M.D. The first jumper I will highlight in this blog post is Dr. Peter Breggin.  He deserves to be first on my list because I came across his book Toxic Psychiatry in 1995 when I was in the midst of my own bumpy journey.

Dr. Breggin was a psychiatrist who helped me discover the chiropractic profession.  He didn't know it, until I wrote him a letter  about 12 years later.

(Look for Part 2 in the next few days.)

Emotions and Energy: How to Unlock Your Body's Brilliance

Call to Action: 95% of your day is spent on learned patterns you are performing on auto-pilot.  Are you satisfied with that?  If you want your brain to perform differently, you can learn how to master your Master-System.

When I ask you to enter the 3 doorways of moving, feeding, and talking to your brain, I don't typically emphasize one over the other.

What are the 3 Doorways?

What is Move Your Brain, Feed Your Brain, Talk to Your Brain?

Reach Your Goals Faster
All three work together.  But talking to your brain first helps you reach your goals faster.  Mainly, you need to understand how the brain prioritizes its responses so you can give your brain and body the best self care.

We know the stress response serves a purpose, but it easily gets out of balance leading to an energy crisis and poor health.

The body-mind partnership is intertwined.  Our emotions can bring us health by initiating healing endorphins or damaging stress hormones, depending on the emotional state we are in.  Also, any bodily damage, deficiency, or pain will incite emotional stress, as well.  We don't worry about which one came first.  We want to balance all that our body experiences.

When we understand which part of the nervous system is active, (because they both can't occur together) we can make better decisions that support our overall healing.

Our subconscious, in it's efficiency, takes an habitual, auto-pilot control during 95% of our day.  Which pattern do you think is more prominent in your life?  And would you like to strike a different balance?

The Immune Damage Was Set a Long Time Ago........Change Your Future Now

This wonderful, happy ending story was shared by Dr. Darren Schmidt.

Call to Action: When you realize how we have been "primed" for this kind of sickness, you can take the steps necessary to live in sync with your body's innate intelligence, not against it.

Dr. Brownstein from the Center for Holistic Medicine in Michigan interviews a survivor of Covid-19 who very eloquently described how his situation gradually worsened.  With a quick referral from a concerned coworker, he was hooked up with an efficient home therapy that saved his life.

Please listen to this interview (and use it as inspiration.  You can free yourself from the anxiety we've all been tip toeing with over the last few weeks.

Update: May 14, 2020.
Dr. Brownstein's video was taken down by YouTube.  Luckily I summarized it here.  So, it turns out there are groups that don't want you to have access to different ideas about healing.

I hope you appreciate my commentary below because health freedom is near and dear to my heart.  It is my reason for doing this for over twenty years.  The tricky part is being open to consider different ideas about healing.  Watching certain family members suffer never leaves you.

The unreliable, dare I say outdated, information that we still fall back on is probably the worse sickness there is.

On to the interview.  Here are my responses.

- Christopher noticed sporadic signs of illness.  Early on he wasn't feeling overtly sick.

- When he reached a point of unusual sickness he was told by his health care provider to self quarantine, while his family had to also quarantine themselves in a different part of the house.

- As he worsened he was now at a point where his physician didn't want him in the office.  He was told to self medicate until he couldn't breathe and then he could go to the E.R. In my opinion, if he lived near an overwhelmed hospital (and not every city is in that severe situation) the facility is already incapable of helping him and they merely observe your decline.

- He was relying on Gatorade and cycling between ibuprofen and Tylenol as hear feared the Tylenol would impair his liver function.

- He reached a point of illness where he was afraid to go the E.R. knowing what was being told on the news. He was sure he was on his deathbed.

- When he spoke to a doctor in Dr. Brownstein's office the first instruction was to stop the OTC medications. Ibuprofen worsens the viruses effects and Tylenol robs you of your best antioxidant, glutathione.

- The next set of instructions was to take Vit D, C, and A on a continuous, frequent schedule at pretty high amounts. Since Vitamin D and A are fat soluble, someone should be eating meat to satiation because this is the best source of fat along with the bioavailable nutrients in animal protein.   Even Vitamin C needs are lower when on a high meat, low carb diet. I prefer this life style to be in place before someone gets sick, but even at this point, it is healing,  as long as someone has an appetite and can swallow safely.

- He was then told to use a nebulizer with a solution of saline, hydrogen peroxide and iodine.  (Instructions on Dr. Brownstein's blog, March 30th post)  His second treatment gave him the confidence that he was not going to die.

- Dr. Ng, the one he consulted with,  told him, "Fever is your friend." He was advised to keep up his warmer body temperature, taking a hot bath with epsom salts.

- Christopher was shocked to hear how useful a fever really is.  He stated this is a new philosophy he hadn't experienced before.

- At this time, Dr. Brownstein's practice has no cases of pneumonia and no deaths.  He's been teaching preventive self care for decades.

- Dr. Ng, who gave him these instructions, reminded him that all they did was help Christopher's body do its proper job of self healing.  That's all.  I tell my folks that they have this ability all the time, but the immune system needs some help because current stress, such as the dampening effect of the medications, nutrient deficiencies from the Standard American Diet, etc., have gotten in the way.

More of my commentary:

- At this time, the dead people cannot speak about their ordeals.  We will never know how they suffered under the failed attempts to save them.

- Christopher was poorly informed about the purpose of fevers and the dangers of over the counter medicines.

- At this point, the medical professionals in the thick of it are now getting sick, because they are exhausted and demoralized.  The virus only wins when the immune system is exhausted.  We know they are exhausted and all they see is the worst of the worst.

- We know people heal because Christopher healed. We must keep that on the front of our minds.

- Sadly, the hospitals that are crowded do not have the time to give people a fair chance at healing them.  Too much time has already been lost.  The care is mostly palliative, (comfort) hoping the body saves itself.  Even the malaria, HIV, and Z-pack meds are used in the hopes that the body still has enough resilience and won't weaken more so from these drugs.

- Nothing is more demoralizing than feeling vulnerable to a mysterious sickness.  Feeling helpless is a major stress to the immune system. It is also an effective tool to control someone.  Gaslighting and village shamans have shown us how powerful intimidation can be.  This is another topic for another time, but we can control our thoughts.  Events are events, but our emotions can be modified.

- I believe our lack of the true understanding of the immune system "primed" us for this disaster, both in the terrible health outcomes and the enforced financial crisis.

- We've been routinely advised to follow outdated approaches that have harmed us.  The body is already in a sick state from these popular ideas:
  -- low fat diets
  -- calorie restriction diets
  -- low salt diets
-- overprescribing of medications in order to stifle a life saving body function, such as a fever, or hypertension (the philosophy problem Christopher hinted at).

We also have other stresses not recognized as problematic:
    --EMF exposure
    -- glyphosate in our foods
-- unaddressed heavy metal build up, parasites, mold, candida, and Lyme

- The medical industrial complex (and it is called complex because it is designed to confuse you so you feel beholden to the people holding press conferences), is designed to provide you with short term responses to save your life from immediate death.  Whether they do a good job or not, is a matter of opinion.  And you are entitled to your opinion.  Your health is ultimately up to you.

But once their short term response is over, you have the responsibility to do the real work so you don't have a repeat incident.

What is Christopher going to do now that he is recovered from Covid-19?  I bet he makes a lot of changes.  I bet his first change will be becoming a regular client of the Center for Holistic Medicine.

What will you change in your life after the short term response is offered to you?
-- What will you change after you get that injection in your back?
-- What will you change after you get that new hip?
-- What will you change after you get that stent in your coronary artery?
-- What will you change after that kidney stone?
-- What will you change after that gall bladder attack?

- Perhaps you won't accept the short term response after carefully considering the risks.  That is also a fair option.  Then you can move right on to your own self care options.

- Viruses don't kill us.  We succumb under an exhausted nervous system.

- Thankfully, many people will live and be allowed a new opportunity to make a difference. I believe Christopher is making a difference today.

Now, listen to Christopher's own words.

Do "Healthy" People Have Unknown Comorbities?

What does the term comorbidity mean?

According to medicinenet.com,  it is the coexistence of two or more disease processes.

With the increasing number of young people recovering from the current  CV-19 acute viral illness, the media often says these people are healthy and it is shocking that they are getting sick.

According to a March 12, 2020 published meta-analysis of infected patients, more severe patients had prior chronic issues than less severe patients.  https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/32173574

Patients with high blood pressure, heart issues, diabetes, and respiratory problems had worse outcomes.  (Speaking of breathing, read my post about chiropractic and better lung function.)

Now I want to broach the topic hypothesizing that young people have these issues but don't know it.  The body does a fine job of maintaining homeostasis so someone could be living a lifestyle that raises blood pressure, but the body still has resilient mechanisms to correct it.  And, we already know the high stats for pre-diabetes and many people are undiagnosed.  It is also apparent that  blood sugar and A1C readings are basically useless according to pioneer Dr. Joseph Kraft and others. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5708305/

We know plenty of people who have the tendency to burn the candle at both ends and run on fumes.  It is assumed we can leave the body on auto-pilot and hope to get more rest later.  But that kind of stress takes a surprising toll. I see it often in people over forty.  They become very despondent when that wake up call hits them.

I'm not a fan of wake up calls.  It means there's a lot of work ahead to correct the unnecessary stress.  I know people who are addicted to the cortisol rush of living hectic lives. Let's act now and avoid the dreaded wake up call.

A life style overhaul undertaken for a year or two will help people develop more confidence in knowing they can be much healthier.  And since I've found we should not rely on the usual lab studies you get at your yearly physical, I teach people how to delve deeper into lifestyle management so they are doing exactly what they need to do rather than wait for a chronic problem to rear it's ugly head.

This kind of coaching cannot take place in a seven minute physician appointment.  It certainly cannot take place during a chiropractic adjustment appointment.  There is an educational component, as well as a individualized considerations so we can plan a customized program.  This is the Next Generation approach to health.  Don't get left behind.

Ask me about the BFA Coaching program so you can take the proactive steps needed to properly rebuild health without guessing or falling back on obsolete ideas.

Should I Help You DO MORE HARM?

Odd question, but I need honesty.

If you're getting adjusted on a regular basis to improve your nervous system....... (That's the only reason.......helping your nervous system make you a better healer.)

........Back to the question.......Are you getting adjusted so you can go HEAP ON MORE STRESS in your life?

Your life is your life and I am happy to provide chiropractic care to those who appreciate the unique spine/nerve relationship.

But .... am I helping you do more harm?

Is your stress level still high?

Your emotional stress?
Your physical stress?
Your chemical stress?

Part of subluxation care is understanding how to change the stress we have control over.  We can reduce the interference that disrupts nervous system function.

You have the innate intelligence working for you everyday.  Let's boost your healing power.

The Ice Maker's Dilemma

At my house, I make the ice.  We don't have an automatic ice maker inside the freezer.  I use ice daily so I monitor the ice usage.  During the winter it's not a big deal, but now summer has arrived and everyone in the house loves ice.

You can imagine what happens during the hot summer days.  We're drinking a lot of ice water or iced tea.  No one else replaces the ice they take since they are lucky enough to find a full bin.

Then, mysteriously, the ice runs out and I am making ice twice a day.   When the ice bin was empty I probably made ice three times a day but people had to wait since it takes a few hours for the water to freeze.  In order to keep up with the demand for ice, I put an extra bin in the freezer and filled that up with a pile of ice, too.

In a week or so, the temperature cools down for a bit and the need for ice is not as great. Then something really awful happens.  The extra bin stays full of ice and then it turns into one big ice chunk that I later have to dump into the sink because it is too difficult to break up.  Whew!  Do you see how busy I am?

We can use these examples of ice making to understand how the body compensates for stress.  When stress increases the body senses the need to  kick in the cortisol, fight or flight response.  Now the body is in crisis mode to handle the stress before healing reserves get too low.  An empty ice bin represents an inadequate stress response.  When the ice is refilled in a reasonable manner, that represents our ability to take care of ourselves, such as getting good sleep as a routine, going to the chiropractor as a consistent habit, and taking high quality food concentrates.  When we have to wait for the water in the ice tray to freeze, that could be a temporary illness that requires our patience to work through.

In chiropractic we understand that the nervous system fluctuates between high activity and low activity.  Hopefully, we don't get the nervous system patterns stuck in a hyperactive state or too low of a state.  We don't want to run out of ice, nor do we want a big useless chunk of ice either.

Mom, What Does a Migraine Feel Like?

Well, what do you say to that? Kids in school must be talking about migraines. Maybe a child or parent is suffering from migraines and it is a topic of conversation among them. The last thing I want my son to do is dwell on the negative aspect of disease names, symptoms and feelings of helplessness.

Rather than focus on types of migraine pain I said, “We need to look at what the body is needing and not getting. The body is asking for help.” I brought up examples he could relate to, such as, how bad he feels after eating too much sugar and flour, or with a poor night's sleep.

Many adults will just go go go and stay so busy they don't even notice the stress accumulation in their bodies. The number of people who ignore or get used to their pain is actually staggering. With a simple chiropractic exam people say to me, “I had no idea how bad I was.”

The biggest unmet need in health care is maintaining the nerves that connect to every organ of the body. Even when we adjust the spine, if other things are lacking such as nutrients, the adjustment is not as effective. That's why we need to explore the interferences that are stressing the body.

Are migraines a problem with just the head? With any pain or dysfunction, there is actually a multi-systemic problem with the nervous system, circulatory system, digestive system, and immune system just to name a few.

You are invited to learn how a chiropractic exam can help you replenish the body with what it hasn't been getting. Don't live in a state of “unaware deprivation.”

Are We Too Accustomed to Harmful Things?

There are so many harmful things around us.  Chemicals, foods, personalities, gimmicks, etc.

We are so inundated we just cross our fingers and hope for the best.  After all, we don't drop dead from one order of french fries.

But the  stressful conditions persist.  We work hard, play hard, sleep little, and worry about what still hasn't been accomplished.

So what so we do about our mental subluxations?  We get adjusted, of course.  Remember, the biggest unmet need is the re-connection between the brain and the body.  Spinal stress impacts neurological function that impacts emotions and cognition.  If we are going to be better problem solvers and make the world a better place, we need to start with our brains and nervous systems.

We should not accept the fact that we are in a toxic world.  But we do need to be prepared.

Everyone Heals Differently

If You're Alive → You Are Healing

Give Your Healing Power Chiropractic T.L.C.

You may be younger than you think. Researcher Dr. John Frisen is now looking at the age of different tissue types in the human body and finding out how old they are. Many tissues and cells have a constant turnover rate but that rate seems to vary greatly from body part to body part with some parts not renewing at all.  Based on the average human tissue renewal our bodies may only be 10-15 years old.
For example, cells from rib muscles in an individual in their late 30’s was shown to be an average of 15.1 years old. Cells lining your gut were found to be only days old but the deeper cells were found to be 15.9 years old.
Cornea of Eye 24 hours
Villi of Intestines 2-3 days
Lining Stomach 5 days
Taste Buds 10 days
Lining Lungs 14-21 days
Outer Skin/Epidermis 14-28 days
Deeper Skin 90 days
Red Blood Cells 120 days
Liver 300-500 days
Alveoli of Lungs 365 days
Bones 10 years
Rib Muscles 15.1 years
Deeper Gut 15.9 years
Most of Brain and Eyes Same as your birth age
Not Found to Renew: Cerebral Cortex, Inner lens of the eye.

Cells in most parts of the brain and spinal cord are found to be aged very similar to the age of the individual because these cells do not often regenerate. We are born with 100 billion cells in our brain and most do not regenerate or renew.
The importance of protecting and taking care of your spine and nervous system with regular chiropractic care is essential to keep these cells and your body healthy. Having a clear connection from the brain cells to the tissue cells is essential for optimal renewal and healing of your body. With regular chiropractic care your nervous system works to health tissues more efficiently.
Another way to look at it is to realize that healing takes time. Do not expect body parts to be renewed the next day if they really take 15 years to renew. All you can do is give your body an optimally functioning, clear nervous system, time to heal and do all that is necessary to foster that healing.
Researchers are trying to find methods to heal nervous system damage with stem cell injections and antibodies from the outside in but are finding it very challenging.

You know our routine.  See you at the table.
