Selfish, Irresponsible, and Dangerous. Is That You?

After reading the news about Rockland County banning unvaccinated children from public places for 30 days, I had to really ponder why the people "in charge" think this is the way to resolve what they call a state of emergency due to a high number of measles cases.

Currently, according to news reports, there are only 10 cases of measles right  now in Rockland County.

The message being put out there, in my interpretation, is that unvaccinated people are selfish, irresponsible and dangerous.  The funny thing is vaccines cannot be studied for effectiveness.  There are plenty of questions regarding vaccine safety.  Over $4 billion  has been paid out by the government compensating for vaccine injuries.  Also, individuals are not allowed to directly sue the pharmaceutical companies.

Supposedly the measles vaccine only works for so many years, which means more adults than children are selfish, irresponsible and dangerous.

I haven't found any articles updating the public on how this ban is doing on day #3.  I did find a story about a small protest highlighting the inappropriateness of denying people freedom live their lives in a normal manner.

But what gets me is the selectivity of this county's commissioner.  Singling out unvaccinated people because it is assumed they are problematic to the health of others is a rather irrational move.

I think a bigger health crisis is letting people with metabolic syndrome continue with their health harming behavior.  After all, businesses lose a lot of money to sick time.  Productivity goes down.  People end up on disability.  The lives of families are disrupted.  Children have less quality time with their sick parents.  Adults have to tend to their own aging parents.  Insurance companies and the Medicare program are burdened with high costs related to the preventable problems of metabolic syndrome.  I think of the people with amputated limbs, heart surgeries, etc.  The suffering is immense.

Am I singling out overweight people who have high blood pressure, high triglycerides, and pre-diabetes?  Many of them are smokers, or those who drink alcohol and consume caffeine.

I guess we could go on and list many more health problems that are taking a toll on the public.  But people get defensive with the fingers are pointed toward them.

The Brain First Always approach promoted in the office is a "low tech high energy" way to boost your brain's health so your immune system can resist acute diseases as well as chronic debilitating conditions.

Stress Doesn't Skip Body Parts

Stress doesn't skip body parts.  Every part of your body feels the brunt.  Don't forget about nerve health.  Check out my article from yesterday's Citizen.

After the Stress

Alternate titles for this article:

When the doctor has troubles

Easy come easy go

So I let a mental stressor take over my life during the month of January.  For my poor family, I was not that much fun at home, especially in the evenings when we were all tired at the end of the day.  I worked through my issue and it has been a memory for quite some time.  That was in January and it is now March.

The problem is the after effects.  I let my diet go.  I let my workouts go.  I began staying up too late at night and  found it more difficult to get up early enough to do an adequate work out.  The diet is probably the easier one to fix.  I resumed better eating with a sincere commitment to myself.

I began taking the Metagenics supplement, Phyto-Multi and this gave me fast improvements. I slept better and had more energy.  I still have to make an effort to quit all my activities at 9 PM and just get to bed.  I am getting better at that, as well.

My workouts were probably affected the most and that is a little disheartening.  For two weeks at Christmas I allowed myself to eat anything I wanted and that didn't help when the new year rolled around.   When your carbohydrate intake is too high, you cannot work out with your usual intensity.  I always notice it the very next day after a high carbohydrate meal.  I get tired very quickly and my muscles give out much too soon.  It almost feels as if I am coming down with a cold.   (What's the big deal with carbs?)  (Whole grains are not your friend)

It's also easy to correct if  too much time hasn't elapsed.  If you lay off your work out for about two weeks you will have to start from scratch all over again.  That's how quickly we lose muscle tone.  If I go three days without a work out, I have to use lighter weights and take more rests.

During this time off the routine someone can easily come down with a cold or flu like illness and once that is over it takes even more time to get back into balance.

Lesson learned.

It isn't easy to get back up to speed.   I am blaming it on boredom with my current collection of workout DVDs. Often we blame aging and old injuries. But should we?

Before the thaw of winter finally comes by spring, I will be back to my usual routine.  I'm fed up with the dragging feeling.

So join me in turning over a new leaf ...or shamrock.
Don't forget to keep up with your adjustments.  And remember, adjustments don't work when the interference is greater.  Poor diet, lousy exercise, no sleep. dehydration, mineral deficiencies are all terrible interferences.

Stress effects have a prolonged effect.  That is why people are depressed, overweight, diabetic, having issues with metabolic syndrome.  The spine develops calcium deposits.  Muscles become spasmed. Scar tissue takes hold.  The brain loses healing connections with the body.

But not in our office.  We are dedicated to health building.

The Easy Steps of the L2YA Challenge

Live Like You're Alive
Is it complicated to take the L2YA challenge?
It shouldn't be complicated if you have a desire to get more out of life.

  • Do want more mental and physical energy to accomplish your life's goals?
  • Are you held back by health concerns?
  • Do you have to live within limitations due to weakness, pain or side effects from medications?

Take the L2YA Challenge and see how your life changes.

1.  Make an appointment to take the Neuro-Digestive-Stress Test.  (It is a simple one page form that helps you understand how stress is affecting your body.)

2.  Move away from L.S.G. so you can have the PhD!  (Ask me what this means)

3.  After one to two months make a few more changes:
Simplify your work, simplify your finances, play more with people who matter.

The Diet Invites Disease

Our society is burdened with many very debilitating diseases
  • obesity
  • digestive problems (e.g. irritable bowel disease, a.k.a. IBD or IBS)
  • metabolic syndrome
  • autoimmune diseases
  • arteriosclerosis
  • heart disease
  • diabetes type 1 and 2
  • all chronic diseases -> THE diseases of Western countries!
  • hypertension
  • osteoporosis

We have a serious problem with medication usage that doesn't address how these diseases start.

Dr. Wolfgang Lutz was a pioneer in the low carb understanding.  His case studies have shown to be very provocative.  In his book, Life Without Bread, he even talks about cancer and the high carb correlation.  It is a must read.

Here is a paleo blog that also notes Dr. Lutz's wonderful understanding of diet and health.

65% Are Fat & Sick: Don't Follow This Crowd

  • Some people are sick.
Some are sick and don't know it.
The rest try to live well but hit roadblocks all along the way.

There is something so terribly wrong when a statistic states there are more overweight people than thin people. Yesterday, I was listening to a radio show that was discussing the rarity of overweight school aged children many decades ago. Now, in a classroom of 30 kids, 10 of them are overweight or obese!

As a whole, we are paying attention to very ineffective interventions and ignoring the real problems.

Another complaint I have is this:
If you google "can you be overweight and healthy" the articles are full of opinions that are all over the place. Some say you can be healthy and overweight and some say there is a very strong risk of metabolic syndrome if the person doesn't already have it. READ MY PAST ARTICLES ON METABOLIC SYNDROME

If 65% of Americans are overweight or obese, we are believing a full set of lies about health and lifestyle.

Here's a short list of lies and poorly disseminated information:

You must take prescription drugs for health risks such as high blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, osteoporosis

High fructose corn syrup, or the new version "corn sugar" is similar to sucrose or table sugar made from cane or beets.

Artifical sweeteners are good choices especially for diabetics

    Low fat cooking is healthy

Whole grains are important in the diet

Losing weight only requires eating less and exercising more

The produce aisle is the healthiest place in the grocery store

The food guide pyramid is correct

The American Diabetic Association recommendations are healthy

Children who don't perform well in school have attention problems

    Children don't play enough outside

Dairy is important for strong bones

Supplements are not necessary if the diet has variety

There is no easy answer but there are easy explanations. Putting better habits into play is very difficult. The number one thing we have to do is turn our backs on big lobbies. In our capitalistic society we have to give "the little guy" a chance.

    Who are the little guys?

Mike Adams and Dr. Joseph Mercola instead of the AMA and other large associations. Mike Adams and Dr. Joseph Mercola are in pursuit of safe, natural health. They point out the dangers of drugs especially the drugs that are taught to be the best way to deal with a disease. Dr. Mercola began selling products not to make money but to pay for the many lawsuits many angry groups file against him. He offers safer, intelligent options and he gets sued. He does win, but it costs him.

Your local farms that grass feed and use organic practices. Mass farming is cheaper but very risky for our environment and health. GMO crops are creating diseases we will be unable to face in the future. Is cancer on the rise because of chemicals in farming and genetically manipulated seeds? By the way, Certified Organic Credentialing is so expensive, many small farms follow organic practices but do not seek the designation. Get to know the owners personally and ask they will proudly talk about their farming practices.

Your local dairy that does not pasteurize. Unpasteurized is the only healthy milk to drink. End of Story. Visit the Real Milk site for more information.

Supplements your natural health practitioners personally take, not products from GNC, Walmart, or Kinneys. We research how the products are made. If you aren't feeling better on store-shelf products, you're not buying bioavailable products. You can buy quality at a fair price, if you are committed to it.

Natural health practitioners who emphasize realistic low carb eating. What does that mean? You have to ask me to find out.

I know how hard it is to shake the health lies you grew up with. I had to go through the same internal fights. But that's what it is: internal. You make the decision to change your mind. But you never have to do it alone. It feels like you are alone, but you've got to stop believing what those 65% believe.

Health Care Reform? No Thanks.

If you like long waits at the medical doctor's office, don't read this.

We haven't gotten a handle on chronic health problems. If you have pain and fatigue and the doctors can't give you a definitive diagnosis, you should be worried. Are you on a number of medications that aren't working? You should ask, "How does this really restore my health?"

There is a condition we call Metabolic Syndrome associated with a sedentary lifestyle and obesity. We know the warning signs, but our preventive strategies are not working.
Do you have metabolic syndrome?Obese or overweight
High blood pressure
High cholesterol and triglycerides
Pre-diabetes or diabetes
