The Core of Chiropractic:
My #1 reason for becoming a chiropractor is empowerment.
I was previously a mental health therapist and saw no empowerment. It was depressing. That's very sad to say.
We tend to hide behind clinical labels and it robs us of great personal transformation. Hold this thought in the back of your mind and remind yourself how easy it is to lose sight of your own greatest internal gifts.
Where does empowerment come from? Think back to times you were influenced by something so profound that it motivated you to take action in a way you never thought you could. How were you surprised by an ability you didn't think you had within you?
Yes, you have your own personal success stories. You have proof in your own life experience. So why do we forget we possess this talent and fall into the deep path of self doubt? When is that destructive seed planted?
Back when my grandmother was living with us, I watched her decline. I saw the mess of her pills. A bag full of plastic disorganization. I did not want that to be me. I was motivated by sympathy. Possibly disgust. Her quality of life before the stroke wasn't terrible, but she already had a poor outlook of her own existence that is actually embedded in our culture.
I enjoyed my educational pursuits while studying clinical counseling. I knew it could make a difference. The system, however, is mired in negativity. Sorry, this is my opinion, but I don't want to be treated in a system like this. That is why I pursued chiropractic.
But the empowerment is lacking in the current system involving chiropractic. I should not be surprised. Chiropractic follows the same government authoritative body and is just as problematic unless I am willing to step aside from the rat race of mainstream methods.
I know I help people, they tell me. But do I change people?
I'm not satisfied with helping. I want to see people change in a way that transforms their lives, where they have optimism and see results from their actions.
You have the inborn traits that protect you, replenish your spent tissues and keep you alive. It is downplayed in the mainstream models of health care.
You can approach chiropractic as an intervention. I prefer to approach it as a CELEBRATION. This completely changes the intent but also it changes the state of your nervous system.
The early chiropractic trail blazers were a part of this. But, it's so typical, if you're not careful you fall into habits of complacency. You forget the chiropractors who went to jail for their craft. You forget the ten year lawsuit that stopped the American Medical Association from conducting illegal activity against chiropractors.
Let's get back to you.
Where are you today? How do you view your energy? How do you view your future? I'm not talking about back pain and how you rate your pain from 0 - 10. To me, that is a depersonalized way of categorizing your current state. It doesn't go deep to the deep person that you are.
The Chiropractic Lifestyle.....yes it is a way of life that remove you from the negativity that we often get too stuck in.
