Half Healthy Is Still Half Sick

Don't fall through the cracks.  You'll land hard.

                   Brain Sense  Tele-Health

Profound Approach at Your Finger Tips

Half Healthy is Half Sick

Half a Solution Is Still Half a Problem

Does your health care feel like unfinished business?

Time to put together a “whole approach.”

How has unfinished business affected you?

Emergency Medicine

Too Late

It doesn't have to be too late. Tissue damage is considerable when an emergency intervention is needed. But we can change that trend.

Annual Screenings

Epic Fail

Researchers have said screenings do not change outcomes, but make profit for hospitals. How can you have true confidence that you are doing the right things for your future?

Maintenance Drugs →

Miserable Decline

There is no medicine that restores health. Maintenance drugs do not rebuild failing tissues. We need to step back and ask why tissue does failure begins.

Surgery →

Extreme Risks

Why do you sign all those disclosure forms? Because unfavorable outcomes are high. Failed back surgery syndrome has it's own insurance code. Back surgeries have an 85% fail rate. And that's only one example.

Traditional Offices →

Condescending

Doctors know they are limited by the bureaucracy of medicine. You have to wonder how severe is your doctor's state of demoralization. Doctors commit suicide at double the rate of the rest of the population. Invite them to join you on this healing journey.

We have an overburdened health care system that helps you get somewhat better, but you fall through the cracks.

Q. Why?

A. 1- No one makes the time to give you what you really need.

2- What you really need cannot be patented or profited but it's still worthwhile.

3- What you really need comes from YOU with a little bit of education and coaching. I know your story. I lived it. --Dr. Lisa

Chiropractic is the Gift of Giving Up Negativity

[Don't forget next week's health challenge!]
(In today's Citizen)
When people express an interest in chiropractic, I ask them if they plan to focus on the problem or the gift. When they raise an eyebrow, I offer a reason to shift gears in their thinking.
The only way to have a change in health is to shift gears by incorporating some type of behavior change. Health education during appointments is needed for successful change.
We tend to go to a health care professional with a problem when it doesn’t seem to go away on its own. I guess it is human nature, but while we wait for a problem to go away, we help new problems fester.
I understand problems must be dealt with appropriately, but we can also recognize we have a gift. We are the gift. The very same human body that has you feeling down and anxious because of some kind of disruptive symptom or disease pattern is actually responding correctly to a stress.
The body has many built-in mechanisms that protect and heal you from mishaps and unpleasant exposures. While the problem is annoying or even life-threatening, the body is working hard at keeping you alive.
In the chiropractic world, the gift is the body’s communication system made up of the brain, spinal cord and nerves that deliver the lifesaving messages of healing through the tunnel of bones we call the spine.
Maybe I have a word obsession, but if you focus on problems, you will never attain health. I don’t even like the term health screenings, because it is focusing on a problem you might have or might never have.
No one likes going in for mammograms or colonoscopies. The anxiety they produce ramps up cortisol levels and probably kills off a few DNA strands just waiting for the test results.
But don’t yell at me assuming I think health screenings are not necessary. However, I do want more people to shift gears. I want you to enhance your gift of healing, and chiropractic gives you a very unique way to do it.
The gift of our healing system still needs help. Just like everything else, your spine and nervous system need to be finely tuned and polished.
Routine chiropractic adjustments are the fine tunings. When spinal fixations are released, neurological patterns can be restored to a state of more efficient healing. Health education is offered by your chiropractor to explain what makes the body less efficient, and how the adjustment perks it up.
Chiropractors also use health education to help you add the polish. You can learn how to lower stress levels so the spine and nervous system stay strong. You can learn how to recognize the subtle signs of spine and nerve dysfunction.
Let’s focus on the gift as a way to resolve our problems. Take the time to understand how chiropractic enhances the healing process. This is a great way to shift gears and make powerful changes in your health.

Chiropractic Insights: You Are Your Health Care

(Yahoo chiropractor auburn ny 13021 )

Here is my chiropractic article in this week's Citizen.  I debunk the myth that insurance coverage makes you healthier.
We need insurance for emergencies and hospitalizations, but chronic health problems should not really be the burden it is on the health system.  It starts with us.

Don't Settle for Unfinished

I wrote a letter to the editor to my profession's trade journal and the letter was published this week.  I have it here for you to read.

The most important message I want to convey is that I don't do just half the job.  I will do the most thorough job and it is you  .....  the customer.... who is welcome to  benefit from it.

Insurance only wants to do half the job.  They pay for care that is only half finished.
Insurance does not pay for wellness, maintenance, or chronic care.

For your well-being, I urge my practice members to choose the fullest form of health building.
I offer ongoing care with no limits at an affordable rate.
Experience the change it can do for your life!

We Can Offer a Better Option
Dear Editor:
What a sad realization that we, as a profession, bow down and cut our own throats in the name of Medicare acceptance. The authors of the Medicare article did a fine job teaching the reader the requirements of Medicare. But why do we accept this? Shame on our chiropractic leaders years ago who let it be so. Shame on us now for not fighting for change.
Medicare's awful description is not subluxation reduction. It is temporary patchwork. I can get the same results with a shot of vodka. We've trained a population to seek chiropractic only when the tab is paid by someone else.
To make matters worse, the demanded documentation is worthless. There is nothing more boring than chiropractic notes describing a sore joint. Our notes should be documenting the miracles that happen when a sleeping nervous system is unlocked from its self- induced physiological prison.
I should be thankful my seniors come in for drug-free health-building, but they never experience true health-building. They get a few cracks on the spine that barely relieve the true nature of their nervous-system dysfunction. I don't even treat my spine that way.
Yet in the same issue as the Medicare article, we see a grand story about "Dr. Phil." He gets adjusted twice a week because consistency counts when it comes to receiving adjustments to combat a stressful world. We need to teach our older population the truth about their own healing and offer them a better option than Medicare.

The Easy Steps of the L2YA Challenge

Live Like You're Alive
Is it complicated to take the L2YA challenge?
It shouldn't be complicated if you have a desire to get more out of life.

  • Do want more mental and physical energy to accomplish your life's goals?
  • Are you held back by health concerns?
  • Do you have to live within limitations due to weakness, pain or side effects from medications?

Take the L2YA Challenge and see how your life changes.

1.  Make an appointment to take the Neuro-Digestive-Stress Test.  (It is a simple one page form that helps you understand how stress is affecting your body.)

2.  Move away from L.S.G. so you can have the PhD!  (Ask me what this means)

3.  After one to two months make a few more changes:
Simplify your work, simplify your finances, play more with people who matter.

The Diet Invites Disease

Our society is burdened with many very debilitating diseases
  • obesity
  • digestive problems (e.g. irritable bowel disease, a.k.a. IBD or IBS)
  • metabolic syndrome
  • autoimmune diseases
  • arteriosclerosis
  • heart disease
  • diabetes type 1 and 2
  • all chronic diseases -> THE diseases of Western countries!
  • hypertension
  • osteoporosis

We have a serious problem with medication usage that doesn't address how these diseases start.

Dr. Wolfgang Lutz was a pioneer in the low carb understanding.  His case studies have shown to be very provocative.  In his book, Life Without Bread, he even talks about cancer and the high carb correlation.  It is a must read.

Here is a paleo blog that also notes Dr. Lutz's wonderful understanding of diet and health.

I'm Not Getting Better

You've tried many different things to feel better. You are healing from an injury and it seems to be taking too long this time. You have nagging little health issues that you tolerate, but they just don't go away.

Let's look at things a little differently.

1. You've tried many things to feel better.
Different view: Something else in your life repeatedly overpowers your attempts keeping you from feeling better.

2. You are healing from an injury and it seems to be taking longer this time.
Different view: More attention is needed now than what was adequate in the past.

3. Nagging health issues just aren't going away.
Different view: They are sticking around for a reason, because something else is sticking around.

Your Body Speaks to You in Interesting Ways
Often we are clueless because we just wish the answers were obvious. Why doesn't my body speak the language of me? Because it can only speak the language of cause and effect with a little nervous system thrown in.

Keep in mind the 3 causes of poor health.

1. Chemical stress
2. Mechanical stress
3. Emotional/Mental stress

Chemical
This includes deficiencies and intoxication. Nutritional deficiencies arise out of poor diet, relying on just food for nutrients, as well as medication effects. Intoxication is not just over- imbibing in caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol. It also includes medications, illegal drugs, and the body's poor ability to detoxify on its own. Chemical stress doesn't allow us to heal properly.

Mechanical
Vulnerable mechanics is due to poor balance, under conditioned muscles, being overweight, lack of sleep, poor posture during activities, repetitive strain, and lack of "conditioning exercise".(I say conditioning exercise because people perform a great deal of exercise that is inefficient and ineffective out of habit.)

Emotional/Mental
Life issues change all the time. We have good days and we have bad days. They tire us out and weaken the immune system. If you have a "worry-trigger." It will get you more often than other issues that don't bother you. If you had an injury or illness look back at the last two weeks and see if a "worry trigger" popped up in your life.

Now re-evaluate your situation and your actions. Look at yourself as if you are watching a movie on TV. What things do you notice are getting in the way of your health? What things are you missing?

See you at the table...the adjusting table.

Stop Crashing --- Pay Attention

During the last batch of snow storms, I wrecked my car. Nobody was hurt but the subframe was badly damaged. That began the numerous phone calls to the claims office and the service shop.

This should be fairly simple. It takes a few visits from the adjuster and the car is fixed. Car insurance is in place to handle these kinds of mishaps. If only health insurance was this easy.

Vehicles are not complicated. After all, we’re just replacing a few parts and the car runs as good a new. There is only one owner’s manual for a particular model and each car buyer gets the same one.

People, on the other hand are very different. One size does not fit all and because of this, health insurance can be a bureaucratic disappointment. The healing process is not the same from person to person. When we don’t follow an insurance company’s determined timetable after an injury or illness, disagreements arise.

Auto insurance has been an affordable contract between the customer and the insurer. I agree to drive defensively and maintain my vehicle so safety standards are met reducing the possibility of a costly accident.

A PricewaterhouseCoopers report found health insurance premiums have outpaced inflation in recent years. One finding showed utilization has nearly doubled. This indicates we have been using more health care services than ever before. The report also cited an increase in consumer demand, newer treatments, and also unhealthy lifestyles.

If utilization increased in the auto insurance sector, it would mean cars are crashing daily on just about every street in Auburn. I am exaggerating, but you should understand the point.

Perhaps we are “crashing” on a daily basis and it has become the norm. We are out of control with our health because we don’t “drive defensively” and now the government wants to take control. I find it very scary that this report also stated less than five cents of every health care premium dollar goes to prevention.

Diabetes, which has a strong correlation with both heart and Alzheimer’s disease, is predicted to affect one third of the population by 2050. Increasing health insurance premiums is not doing anything to help this escalating health problem.

Chiropractic offers a solution to the problem of chronic disease because adjusting the spine neurologically reprograms the body for better healing. The body heals efficiently as long as the nervous system remains finely tuned.

A Rand study showed when an elderly population utilized chiropractic, they spent less time in hospitals and nursing homes, took less prescription medications, and were regular exercisers.
Another study in the Archives of Internal Medicine showed patients with chiropractic coverage had less health care costs overall when compared to patients who did not have chiropractic available in their insurance plans.

It looks as if health insurance does not make us healthy unless the insurance offers a variety of options. Our health is much too important to ignore this. Don’t be the last to get on board with chiropractic.

Health Care Reform? No Thanks.

If you like long waits at the medical doctor's office, don't read this.

We haven't gotten a handle on chronic health problems. If you have pain and fatigue and the doctors can't give you a definitive diagnosis, you should be worried. Are you on a number of medications that aren't working? You should ask, "How does this really restore my health?"

There is a condition we call Metabolic Syndrome associated with a sedentary lifestyle and obesity. We know the warning signs, but our preventive strategies are not working.
Do you have metabolic syndrome?Obese or overweight
High blood pressure
High cholesterol and triglycerides
Pre-diabetes or diabetes
