Sleeping Giants/Sleeping Beauties Podcast: Your Body Can't Let Go Unless You Let Go...

Sleeping Giants/Sleeping Beauties Podcast

Gentle Nudging to Wake Up Your Life

I gave myself a crash course in podcasting so you can have a mini-seminar at your leisure, right in your own home.

It was a good first run, and I've learned how to improve on the next one. This one is 16 minutes. It took all day to prepare for 16 minutes. Hey, this is right in line with my last blog entry talking about life-long-learning. Introducing yourself to something new on a regular basis keeps you sharp and excited. Enjoy.

(Be sure to put your comments in this blog or on the podcast website. I can follow up with it on the next blog entry or in the podcast.)

Your Body Can't Let Go Unless You Let Go
I work with people everyday who are frustrated because their bodies are in some kind of a dysfunctional pattern. The body can't let go of it because they can't let go of something in the mind. Learning how to allow a trauma to be released is liberating.

Requirements for Mind-Body Synchronicity

Yes, there are requirements in life if you want desirable outcomes. I can't sugar coat it, although I meet sugar-coated types everyday who are trying to write their own rules. There is some level of flexibility that is necessary in life, but you have to admit in our society we tend to go to extremes.

Remember Hans Seyle's stress theory. He said the body will handle a certain amount of stress for a limited time. This is the "sugar coated" stage for people who continue to postpone their own self care.

One of the requirements for Mind-Body Synchronicity is Life-Long-Learning.

Why is Life-Long-Learning so important?

The nervous system has a great ability to learn and take on new patterns. We must continually educate ourselves with information that is "reinforce-able" and compatible with wellness and advanced living.

Teach the body with exercise.
Teach the mind with liberating information.
Teach the nervous system with adjustments that reinforce wellness patterns.
Teach the body to desire living foods.
Teach the spirit to look forward to the future.

How do you enhance you Mind-Body Synchronicity? What is the state of your Life-Long-Learning? The brain is waiting for new programs to be installed.

See you at the table...the adjusting table.

The Power of P.U.S.H. / Chiropractic Connection

Do you take advantage of the Power of P.U.S.H.?

Everyone is motivated by avoiding pain and seeking pleasure, but how do we maintain a healthy view? We've always heard the middle road is the way to go. If in doubt, stick with moderation. There is another way of making progress and promoting personal success. It is called the Power of P.U.S.H. It sounds too easy, but it works and the best of the best know that P.U.S.H. is the golden rule:

P = Properly
U = Utilized
S = Simple
H = Habits

Success is not an accident and while it is always good to dream big, it's the little things we do that keeps up the cohesion so we can continue to grow.

What are your properly utilized simple habits? Take an inventory of what you do on a regular basis. Can you add one or two more behaviors to your routine so you can see your results expand?

What simple habits can you properly utilize?

Take a 10 minute walk
Read two or three pages of an inspirational book
Add an extra piece of fruit to a meal
Write a thank you letter
Get your adjustment once a week...not just when you can make it in..

From a chiropractic point of view, consistency gives you clarity. Don't let your spine get bogged down with the by-products of a stressful day. Don't put it off. I am P.U.S.H.ing you to be your best.

Please leave a comment of a new P.U.S.H. you want to incorporate into your day.

See you at the table...the adjusting table

Are You Feeling Squeezed? Chiropractic Connection to the Mind & Body

Are You Feeling Squeezed?

You know the saying: pressue makes diamonds

How much stress are you feeling right now? How will you benefit from it? Can you use stress as a spring board to a better yourself?

How do you embrace stress? Do you let it lead you to better decisions? We have two choices. We can collapse under the pressure or transform it into a lovely diamond.

I focus on the synchronicity between the body and the mind because they are uniquely linked. Our health picture is a reflection of the emotional work we are or are not attending to. The body speaks to us in a different language and with appropriate translation we can find balance to both our physical and mental well-being.

I encourage you to take the path that turns the pressure into diamonds.

Below is a related article I found at Ezine-Articles.com that I like. We often focus on getting rid of pain as quickly as possible, any way possible. If we are not attending to the central problem, it gives us many chances to face it again.

The Purpose of Pain
Dr. Peter Lind

Think out of the box for a moment with me. What if the symptoms you have: headaches, neck pain, shoulder pain, back pain, or whatever else you want to add to the list, exist to serve a purpose? What if the only reason your symptoms are there are for you to learn something from?

Radical?

Track with me. Think of pain in emotional terms, like the symptom you have has a specific emotional state associated with it. It means something.

How does your headache make you feel? Does it make you feel sad? Abandoned? Does it make you feel like you can’t think straight anymore? Like you can’t bear that one thought anymore? Like you can’t think about that one thing any longer? Does it make you feel weary?
Now, let’s say you answered those questions and came up with a reasonable answer. You say: “Well, yeas, I do believe my headaches began when I was in grade school when my mother scolded me for being late for school every day. And now, every day just before I leave for work I get a headache that begins on the left side of my head, and I can remember I used to hold my hand up to my ear so I didn’t want to hear my mom yell at me. It’s the same place on my head. So, Dr Lind, if I would get to work on time there might be a chance that my headaches would subside?”

No, I’m not saying that exactly. I’m saying that if you begin to look at your symptoms emotionally, like your body is trying to say something to you, you might begin to unravel some of the problems you have today.

Whoa, that’s looking at your pain and physical problems differently.
Great, let’s go deeper.

Now, let me ask you: why did your mom have to yell at you every day? You were just going to school, right? No big deal. What’s the problem? Well, the yelling for being late for school never made sense to your brain. So your brain said to itself: “I’m going to store this right now as a headache because I don’t understand this yelling thing. And someday I hope that you (you) deal with trying to understand it but until then I’m going to give you headaches as a way for me to deal with it and for you as a reminder until you deal with it.”

So you have headaches every day and never bothered to ask yourself why.

Right now, what do your headaches made you feel? I’ll answer for you and I’ll say, weary; they make you feel weary. And if you asked yourself when you were a kid when your mom first began yelling at you, you would have said weary then, also. I would have explained it like this:
You were late because you liked to sleep and you felt good sleeping and sleeping was more rewarding to you than being late and getting yelled at. You were still tired, weary, but being weary and sleeping was more rewarding to you than getting yelled at for being late.
Do your headaches make you weary (or what exactly is the emotion?).

Now, let’s go deeper still. If you stop the purpose of the headache like medicating it, without dealing with its cause, wouldn’t it be reasonable that your amazing brain would find another pain or symptom? Your brain wants you to deal with your emotions but yet it doesn’t want to go through the emotional pain while working on it. It would like you to make some sort of sense out of an emotion that never made sense and do it in a way that is non-traumatic again.

So your brain gives you a pain syndrome.

Now, what if you would take the pain and deal with it like an active emotion? Talk to it and say: “Hey head pain, you make me feel weary. I’m going to stop feeling weary if you let my head pain alone. Don’t do this pain anymore. And I’ll do everything I can to stop feeling weary. I’m going to arrive at all my appointments early, in fact I’m going to be so punctual that I’m going to become “happy-early”, a new character I’m going to develop for myself. And while I’m busy doing that, we’re both going to change—you, the head pain, and me the late, weary person.”
Try this for a month and see what happens. I’m willing to bet it will change your life.

No Clock Day: Time Management Includes Playing Hooky

I took a No-Clock Day today. Mike and I both took the day off and reveled in the idea that the rest of the world was in a week day routine. We had no appointments and no need to worry about the clock. I wanted it to be a spontaneous day. I did do the laundry and we stopped at the hardware store and the bank, but we avoided all "job stuff" as much as possible.

At 11 AM I decided to go for a run. I had to rummage through the closet for my running shoes. I hadn't gone running in at least a year. It was pushed to the back burner because the weather was never right or Eirne needed my attention or I had just eaten (I must have been eating all day long).

It was a nice run. And then I stopped at the farmer's market. I read all the newspapers that piled up. I even listened to some podcasts. It was nice to have a No-Clock Day.

I was surprised that I didn't feel even a little guilty about skipping a lot of "work" chores. I did begin a mental list of what to do tomorrow, but I should be much more organized and focused because of this extra day of rest.

When is your next No-Clock Day?

See you at the table...the adjusting table.

Surpassion: Advanced Living [Chiropractic Inspired Life-Style]

This Sunday's opening prayer at church proclaimed God's love surpasses all our thoughts and desires. I reflected on this and decided this should inspire us to have "surpassion. "

Being in awe of all the gifts presented to us in this world, I can't help but feel the byproduct of all this generosity as "surpassion."

Since I made up this word I should explain more of its meaning to me. (I googled it, too, just to make sure no one else thought of it. It is not an official word in the English dictionary, anyway.)

Everything can be described as an exchange of energy. Matter is energy. We, as humans, have a great deal of influence over the energy we give and receive reciprocally. Our collective human potential surpasses our current level of thinking. Since we have the opportunity to evolve in our hearts and minds, it becomes our surpassion.

Surpassion allows us to honor our physical and non-physical gifts. It is a never ending optimism that compels us to share our talents and give of our time to make the world a better place.

Your chiropactic adjustment is a special time to honor the energy and matter components of your hard working nervous system. It always, always, always, plays a role in how you think, act, love, create and transform. (I used to say "heal" but "transform" inspires us to be more.

See you at the table...the adjusting table.

The Power of Awareness: Chiropractic Clarity

When we are not in sync with God's gift of universal intelligence, we create a world of weakness and disharmony.

The amazing life story of David R. Hawkins, MD PhD, demonstrates how capable we are if we dissolve the negative barriers from our lives. I just got a copy of his book, Power vs. Force and his words resonate with other science oriented people who feel a spiritual awareness in everything such as Candice Pert, PhD, and Deepak Chopra, MD.

The following quote from another book of Dr. Hawkin's explains how misunderstanding it keeps people stuck in poor attiudes, poor health, poor relationships, etc.

"The readiness to initiate the journey cannot be forced nor can people be faulted if it has not occurred in them as yet. The level of consciousness has to have advanced to the stage where such an intention would be meaningful and attractive."
The Eye of The I…David R. Hawkins, M.D., PhD

His quote sheds light on why these ideas are overlooked as ways to enhance our lives.

From a chiropractic point of view, getting clear is the first step so a person can develop an openness to the incredible benefits of mind-body synchronicity. We can begin to get clear by detoxifying our bodies as well as our thoughts and attitudes.

Chiropractic clears out the blockages that deter our own energy processes within the nervous system so we can be alert and ready to enjoy life.

The Mechanical, Melodious, & Miracle: Chiropractic Path to Personal Freedom

Welcome to Mind-Body Synchronicity. This is a personal development program with a chiropractic focus. This is the gem of chiropractic that, once understood, expands a person's life in amazing ways.

The mind and body respond to each other. The body speaks to us very uniquely but there are few who can translate its language. Chiropractic takes care of that. With the nervous system being the most important survival system of the body, it must be allowed to do its job without interference.

I try to convey this to my practice members in different ways without trying to dissect every aspect of the human body. Who has that kind of time? I spent a year studying anatomy and still didn't learn everything. The neuro-physiology of the mental impulse has been studied like crazy lately. I love talking about it all day long. But not everyone sees the same excitement in it like I do...not yet.

I like to present it in 3 simple steps:
1. The Mechanical
2. The Melodious
3. The Miracle

Most people look at the body as a mechanical masterpiece. It is a fine beginning point, but once the understanding grows, looking at life mechanically becomes prehistoric, almost too rudimentary. Every part of the body has its place and works systematically with its neighboring organ or muscle. We appear to be very mechanical. You can even replace some parts with transplanted organs or artificial joints. But we are not truly mechanical. We can't stop there because it doesn't honor the cognitive and emotional sides of human existence. We cannot be taken apart piece by piece and put back together again. Something unique is missing. The melody.

The melodious part of us is that unseen essence that keeps us alive. Our thoughts have interesting ways to affect the body such as emotions creating hormonal events within the body. There is a melody that sings inside of us that connect organs that are not near each other. Cells respond to nerve signals that are nowhere near it. Cells can communicate without touching. Relying alone on a mechanistic view does not explain this living phenomenon.

This takes us to the miracle. Do we need to be able to explain everything? We are miracles. We are special creations who continue to co-create by interacting with the rest of the population and using and replenishing what is available to us on this earth. For many this is our profound connection with God. Others call this our innate link with universal intelligence. It is miraculous.

Chiropractic is Personal Development?

When you receive a chiropractic adjustment, the mechanical, melodious, and miraculous connections are "revved" up to the maximum so becoming the best person you want to be is withing your reach.

Many believe in the regualar tune-up.
Others believe little can be achieved without health.
There are others who believe nothing can be achieved without a respect for our innate gifts provided by God.

Chiropractic honors the mechanical, melodious, and miracle inside each of us.

I invite you to experience the personal freedom that is inspired by chiropractic.

See you at the table...the adjusting table.
