Physical Therapy & Chiropractic: the Guitar Story

A practice member told me a PT wasn't sure about her going to both PT and a chiro.  That got me thinking about the proper use of both a physical therapist and chiropractor.

We have such a wonderful opportunity to take good care of our health.

Physical therapy is very important.  Everyone should be doing physical therapy everyday.  Physical therapy is a great place to learn how to move properly and maintain your muscle function.  We should be taking these lessons to heart and making them part of our daily routine.

Exercising on a regular basis is essential to long term health.  If someone exercises incorrectly, it sets him or her  up for injury.  Adequate range of motion and muscle rehabilitation are important for recovering from an injury or disuse after an illness.  Physical therapy should transform how we move through life!

If you think of your body as a guitar, physical therapists show you how to strum the strings in such a way that it makes beautiful music.  Poor strumming is not very good on the ears.  Good technique brings out the best tones.

Chiropractors do their part by turning the pegs to get the guitar strings in tune.  They can get out of tune very quickly and re-tuning is important.  And no matter how beautifully you strum the strings on a guitar, if it is out of tune, it is not going to sound good.

Keep in tune and play well!

When Stress Sticks to the Spine, the Body Gets Sick

More people are interested in prevention and that's a good thing.  My hope is that prevention is not just early detection of health problems which actually is NOT prevention.  It's just knowing sooner about health problems.

When it come to chiropractic we need to understand what is happening to the body below the surface before problems become pain and poor function.

How do we put stress in its place?  We first have to understand the three types of stress so we can properly analyze what parts of our lifestyle need changing.

Take a look at my recent Citizen article about stress:
