I Am Worried...

About 10-15 years ago I was watching a trend of middle aged people struggling to remain in the work force.  They just wanted to make it to the date they could receive their retirement benefits.  Folks in their late 50's were suffering with chronic conditions that made it difficult to physically  perform their duties.

If you've been on the job doing the same activities that you've done for decades, and then it becomes a challenge to keep up with everyone else, it's demoralizing.  I've had many practice members who felt as if their presence at their job is a waste because they knew their productivity was lacking.  Others times, they were dreading possible confrontations with coworkers losing their patience with them because they were becoming a drag on the whole team.  Termination was also a reality.

I've worked with people who were unable to sit for a few hours because of pain, so even people with a sedentary job have troubles.

When people feel they are not contributing to their jobs the way they used to, it becomes a heavy mental burden, which does take a toll.

Now, here we are in 2025 and as I am approaching retirement age I realize I am part of this group.  I still have many years before I reach the age of retirement (62/65/67/70) and will most likely keep on working.

I have a new worry regarding my aging practice members.  We've all watched how prices are rising ridiculously.  Housing is expensive along with groceries, car repairs, etc. Social security and other retirement pensions are not realistically keeping up with the current economy.  Many have already burned through their savings.  It makes the future bleak and scary.

In order to keep up, many seniors are still in the workforce.  Up to 19% of workers are over age 65. The numbers are increasing especially in the group of seniors over age 75.

I'm working with people who are in this predicament. Their current state of health is limiting their ability to do the work they need to make enough money.  Pain, old injuries affecting mobility, low energy, weak muscles, shortness of breath interfere with the ability to stay organized, maintain a work schedule, get adequate sleep and have general feelings of satisfaction.

I'm worried about providing adequate help to my practice members who feel they cannot maintain an active role in society.   I see the results of mainstream health care and I see what mainstream health care ignores, so I hope to offer this important missing component to my practice members.   (Crucial to all ages, by the way...not just retired folks.)

Sometimes they hit a wall, a plateau.  They feel better but just don't have enough energy or strength to tolerate the physical and mental demands of their day.  This leads them to restrict their lives.

There are others out there in my town who have no idea how chiropractic can impact their overall health.  It's not on their radar.  They haven't been exposed to the importance of nervous system care.

So, for my current practice members who don't feel they have enough energy to achieve their goals, I offer a deeper look at my Brain Budget Protocol. I present an organized way to approach health with chiropractic, mind-set and life style.

1- Ask me about the Brain Budget Protocol

Flexner Update: 115 Years Later -- We Are the Losers Unless You Act

Catch Up Here - Doctors Who Jumped Ship

Welcome to the World of Chiropractic.  It is more than a technique.  It is a mind-set that can change your life.  Sounds dramatic, huh?

The brain and spinal cord set the tone of your life.  Chiropractic addresses the brain/spinal cord first because it is the reason for every body response: pain, inflammation, circulation, respiration, digestion, etc.  All patterns are chosen by your brain based on your experiences that are coded as a threat or everyday metabolism.

Chiropractic helps rewire your brain and preserve your fight or flight response so you don't tank your energy reserves which can be risky to your survival.

Chiropractic is a Health Thriving Mind-Set.

THE DOWNHILL DIVE OF THE FLEXNER REPORT  --- We should have said, thanks, but no thanks.

The Flexner Report of 1910 was a set of recommendations prepared by the Carnegie Foundation and presented to the American Medical Association.

It's purpose was to "standardize" medicine, reduce the number of medical schools, and follow a biomedical model of disease treatment.

There are only 2 people in the United States at this time who have reached the age of 115 years old.  So, I bet most of us had no idea what health care looked like when the Flexner Report was published.

While it had no legal authority, state governments eventually followed the recommendations. Abraham Flexner was responsible for the demise of homeopathy, naturopathy, and electrotherapy in the U.S.

After these changes, the disease model took front and center.  Prevention and wellness were shunned.

The history of chiropractic has had its ups and downs as well as its growth couldn't be ignored.  Early chiropractors were put in jail under the false charge of practicing medicine without a license.  The turf wars were hot.  Now, with state licensure, I feel chiropractic has become watered down. Especially the public's awareness of chiropractic.  Most of the public only understand one fraction of chiropractic's profound benefits.

Here's the problem with health care today, the consumers were never asked what they wanted.  They were left out of this power grab in the government.  The public is being deprived of a well rounded view of human health.

So, 115 years later since the Flexner Report, we, the public,  are the losers. In my town the local hospital just built a cancer center.  Next, a "heart institute" is being built.  That's nothing to be proud of.

Do you watch the news? Every news program is funded by pharmaceutical companies.  They want you to believe their is only one way to take care of your health: THEIR WAY.

They sell products to treat body symptoms.  However, these body symptoms are signs your body is helping itself. We don't want to hamper these symptoms, for the most part.   Relying on a drug that stops a normal protective response is illogical.  This interruption reduces the body's resilience.  If you feel a drug is necessary you should ask yourself, how long is this drug needed because eventually you are "robbing Peter to pay Paul."

Delaying the body's responses sets you up for weakness.  You won't be able to withstand the next stress.  That's why chiropractic makes sense.  It works with your best talent: self surveillance.  The body chooses its responses logically based on survival needs at the moment.

So, where are the options, second opinions and choices?  A medical system that is built upon a monopolizing should make us all very angry.

When the CDC states that 6 of 10 Americans has one chronic disease and 4 of 10 has 2 or more chronic diseases, how has the Flexner Report made our lives better?

I chose chiropractic  because it gives you back your power. We focus on the innate wisdom of the body.  We do not want to stick you in a disease category, because chiropractic doesn't add anything to the body nor take anything away from the body.
Chiropractic focuses on how the brain leads the body.  Chiropractic's focus is not on disease naming.

These large hospital systems won't be going away, but you can choose how you want to treat your body.

I teach the "Body Language Switch."

Try it.  If you don't like it, you can switch back to the disease model.

Retired Doctors Tell the Truth - Dead Doctors Get Buried (Part 2)

CLICK HERE for PART 1          PART 3

It's been almost ten years since the death of Dr. Stuart Graveline.

Will his knowledge and experience get buried?

This book was published after he passed away in 2016.  His wife documented how he died.  When he was in the hospital during his last few hours on this earth, a doctor was berating him for not being a statin.

Dr. Graveline was trying to explain to doctor who was of course a stranger, unaware of his medical history,  how he has been dealing with Parkinson's and neuropathy that was  brought on by the statin medication.

Nevermind, his heart was in perfect condition, at the age of 85.

Besides his books, available on Amazon (for now), his website is still available:  SpaceDoc.com.  I assume his wife pays for it to remain online.  How long will that last?

Stay tuned for more follow up on this series.  I'm going to reread his statin book and investigate more retired doctors.

Get Adjusted * Your Brain Will Thank You

** Chiropractic is the deliberate habit of living according to the brain's point of view.          The spine is an extension of the brain.

We utilize the spine to enhance the brain's protection and rebuilding activities. **

If you know what you're really made of, you will work in concert with your brain and body as a partner rather than sitting submissively on the sidelines because of a lack of information.

Independence Day Message: I Wanted Independence from a Failed System

I'm going to be selfish here.

Yes, it is Independence Day when we recall the reason this country was formed with its own unique Declaration of Independence.

I became a chiropractor to have my own independence.  I desired to be independent from a health care approach that robbed people of their dignity and independence.

I was a mental health therapist in a medical clinic that promoted the biological theory of mental illness.  It doesn't work.  It's not a secret that it doesn't work, but it's hard to break people from this belief.  Psychiatric drugs do damage. It robs people of their initiative, self worth.  They become apathetic and indifferent.  They also develop other chronic health conditions.

I wanted to introduce people to approaches that changed their lives for the better.

Chiropractic offers a profound option.  It's a brain switch via the connections through the spine.

It can be quite dramatic a times where a person can see the world in a whole new way.  (Image Courtesy: Discover Mag.)

It was my independence from a nagging negativity that can fester into a miserable existence.  I may sound dramatic, but it's very demoralizing watching people struggle to feel good about themselves when everything they try leads to disappointment.

Chiropractic focuses on how the body maintains itself and strives to recover and and replenish.  However, thanks to a government run college and licencing system, there is a bigger emphasis on pathology.

Body functions that are exhausted and overworked are called a disease process.  It takes on a life of its own that can turn into a downward spiral.  With less emphasis on a wellness model, the true genius of chiropractic is underutilized. This means there is more work to do spreading the word about chiropratic's approach to brain boosting.

The brain decides what you need based on its exposures.  Whether you've been injured in an accident or feel your activities are hindered by a gradual change in your movement, metabolism, etc., your brain is dealing with stressors that impact your overall energy.

Chiropractic helps you unravel it all so you can get back to balance in your life.

You are invited on a journey of wellness.

I became a chiropractor to offer people a different approach, a different option.  There is no freedom if there are no choices.  Sometimes it seems as if health care is monopolized by one model.  It takes a little digging to find your options. Chiropractic is one of those options.

Chiropractic does one thing: it modifies the nervous system to function at a useful state of ease.

You don't want excessive fight or flight.

You don't want the freeze or faint response to tank your reserves to the point of  no return.

You want to partner with the brain.  Chiropractic is your partner.

See you at the table....the adjusting table.

Retired Doctors Tell the Truth - Dead Doctors Get Buried

I wrote a series call Doctors Who Jumped Ship.  There are many interesting medical physicians who realized the best way to help their patients was considered controversial.  They couldn't sit by an follow standard protocols that were obviously not working.   They had to give up the mainstream opinions and forge their own paths.  Often it caused them grief as in loss of their career and unwanted publicity.  They have stood strong and you can read about them here.

There are also a number of talented doctors that history wants to forget.  And I would prefer their work be remembered every day.   This will develop into my newest series: Retired Doctors Tell the Truth - Dead Doctors Get Buried.        Here is our first doctor:

Dr. Stuart Graveline was a medical doctor and astronaut.  He wrote how his life was ruined when he began taking cholesterol medicine. He also had his patients' records showing their declines.  He notified the FDA twice.  No one cared.  He has since passed away.

I am looking over his book again as it has been a number of years.  I thought most people were exposed to the information showing statin medicines are dangerous, but I suppose a new generation of unaware patients the latest money stream for the CEOs.

You'll find it interesting that retired medical doctors who are no longer threatened by their employees tell the dark and dirty stories of the industrial medical complex.  Sadly, once they die, their work is buried with them.

Dr. Darren Schmidt went on a hunt for medical books dating back to the 1930s.  He struck gold. The medical authors had revealed profound information that saved lives, but they are soon to be erased from history.  This is crazy, but it is reality.

Similar to my series I titled Doctors Who Jumped Ship, I want you to obtain the information these doctors shared before it completely vanishes from books, the internet, and word of mouth from mentors.

Dr. Stuart Graveline is one of these deceased doctors.

I would also add to the list Dr. Nicholas Gonzales, John Beard and others.

Stay tuned....   Part 2

Why Pain Management Disappoints

 Pain Management is Pill Management

Chiropractic is Brain Management. It's as simple as that.

Pain Management or Brain Management.  You choose.

Pain medications, opioids, etc., work by inciting the sympathetic response of the nervous system.  You don't feel pain when you're in fight or flight. However, this is short lived because the meds wear off and then nervous system reverts back to the healing phase which includes pain and inflammation.

You know yourself, or you know someone else who has dealt with this vicious cycle.  The medication mind-set doesn't build confidence or set your mind at ease.

Real change comes from re-teaching the brain.

The brain knows it doesn't want to be slowed down, dragged down by a manipulation with a drug, so it initially revs up the body as a countermeasure.  With a large enough dose or repeat dosing, the body goes into parasympathetic dominance which is the opposite.  Heart rate will slow, there will be lack of motivation which causes depression.  Also energy is decreased, digestion decreased.  Eventually the body falls into exhaustion.

Opioids and over the counter nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (aspirin, Advil, Motrin, Aleve) fail at relieving pain because of side effects and the building up of a tolerance to the drugs requiring higher dosing (rebound effects).  Tylenol doesn't work either because it only blocks one type of pain producing enzyme and the body has multiple types.

From the chiropractic point of view, we don't look at pain as a problem but a solution trying to finish the job.  Yes, it's uncomfortable, but the brain is purposely helping you through an injury, or shocking event.  The inflammation is rebuilding tissues and clearing out unneeded cells.

Praise or Paranoia

We can praise the body for it's intelligence or become paranoid because the media inundates us with exaggerated stories convincing you that you can't trust your body.
