Pain Management is Pill Management
Chiropractic is Brain Management. It's as simple as that.
Pain Management or Brain Management. You choose.
Pain medications, opioids, etc., work by inciting the sympathetic response of the nervous system. You don't feel pain when you're in fight or flight. However, this is short lived because the meds wear off and then nervous system reverts back to the healing phase which includes pain and inflammation.
You know yourself, or you know someone else who has dealt with this vicious cycle. The medication mind-set doesn't build confidence or set your mind at ease.
Real change comes from re-teaching the brain.
The brain knows it doesn't want to be slowed down, dragged down by a manipulation with a drug, so it initially revs up the body as a countermeasure. With a large enough dose or repeat dosing, the body goes into parasympathetic dominance which is the opposite. Heart rate will slow, there will be lack of motivation which causes depression. Also energy is decreased, digestion decreased. Eventually the body falls into exhaustion.
Opioids and over the counter nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (aspirin, Advil, Motrin, Aleve) fail at relieving pain because of side effects and the building up of a tolerance to the drugs requiring higher dosing (rebound effects). Tylenol doesn't work either because it only blocks one type of pain producing enzyme and the body has multiple types.
From the chiropractic point of view, we don't look at pain as a problem but a solution trying to finish the job. Yes, it's uncomfortable, but the brain is purposely helping you through an injury, or shocking event. The inflammation is rebuilding tissues and clearing out unneeded cells.
Praise or Paranoia
We can praise the body for it's intelligence or become paranoid because the media inundates us with exaggerated stories convincing you that you can't trust your body.
Chiropractic does one thing: it modifies the nervous system to function at a useful state of ease.
You don't want excessive fight or flight.
You don't want the freeze or faint response to tank your reserves to the point of no return.
You want to partner with the brain. Chiropractic is your partner.
See you at the table....the adjusting table.
