The Wounded Life

We tend to hide behind clinical labels and it robs you of great personal transformation. 

When we're born we are fresh in the world.  A clean slate, so to speak. As we grow, reach milestones and develop our personalities, we slowly get wound up.   Imagine a new string wrapping around you.  

Each new experience wraps a new string, you become an expanding ball of yarn.  But sometimes the experience is tense, unnerving, or traumatic. What if these events tighten the ball of yarn?

As the nervous system responds with fight or flight reactions, the yarn is tightly wound. 

As you discover you have abilities to achieve something, create something, be a part of something that brings you pride or excitement the ball of yarn loosens. 

Life is a repetitious cycle of tightening and loosening.

You can be a soft ball of yarn that is flexible.  Or, you can be so wound up that you bounce hard and end up lost, far away from everything that matters to you. 

So, this is just a simple metaphor that might have meaning to you.  Sometimes all the clinical language in health care bars you from making any progress. 

In the chiropractic world, a compressed spine keeps you in a chronic state of tightness.  When your body has inflexibility your access to the world is limited  Your belief system will also suffer inflexibility because your brain can no longer see options.  Inwardly you lose faith in yourself.  We want to prevent that. 

I became a chiropractor because it brings freedom back to people.  It empowers the nervous system to give you back your energy. This is healing energy that rebuilds you.  

We tend to hide behind clinical labels and it robs you of great personal transformation. Your back pain has inflammation so we are told to fight the inflammation with an ibuprofen, turmeric or a plant based diet.  The tension does not come from inflammation.  So, "fighting" inflammation isn't going to solve the problem.  

Addressing the inflexibility in your life is the deeper, more rewarding approach. 

A life of stress is an energy thief.  It should ebb and flow.  When energy is spent, it is paid back.  

Why get adjusted?  Your body will change when your brain experiences a change.  The adjustment changes the state of the nervous system from fight or flight to strong and confident.   The adjustment changes the state of your mind, giving you the confidence that expands your world, making you powerful participant in the world.
