Flexner Update: 115 Years Later -- We Are the Losers Unless You Act

Catch Up Here - Doctors Who Jumped Ship

Welcome to the World of Chiropractic.  It is more than a technique.  It is a mind-set that can change your life.  Sounds dramatic, huh?

The brain and spinal cord set the tone of your life.  Chiropractic addresses the brain/spinal cord first because it is the reason for every body response: pain, inflammation, circulation, respiration, digestion, etc.  All patterns are chosen by your brain based on your experiences that are coded as a threat or everyday metabolism.

Chiropractic helps rewire your brain and preserve your fight or flight response so you don't tank your energy reserves which can be risky to your survival.

Chiropractic is a Health Thriving Mind-Set.

THE DOWNHILL DIVE OF THE FLEXNER REPORT  --- We should have said, thanks, but no thanks.

The Flexner Report of 1910 was a set of recommendations prepared by the Carnegie Foundation and presented to the American Medical Association.

It's purpose was to "standardize" medicine, reduce the number of medical schools, and follow a biomedical model of disease treatment.

There are only 2 people in the United States at this time who have reached the age of 115 years old.  So, I bet most of us had no idea what health care looked like when the Flexner Report was published.

While it had no legal authority, state governments eventually followed the recommendations. Abraham Flexner was responsible for the demise of homeopathy, naturopathy, and electrotherapy in the U.S.

After these changes, the disease model took front and center.  Prevention and wellness were shunned.

The history of chiropractic has had its ups and downs as well as its growth couldn't be ignored.  Early chiropractors were put in jail under the false charge of practicing medicine without a license.  The turf wars were hot.  Now, with state licensure, I feel chiropractic has become watered down. Especially the public's awareness of chiropractic.  Most of the public only understand one fraction of chiropractic's profound benefits.

Here's the problem with health care today, the consumers were never asked what they wanted.  They were left out of this power grab in the government.  The public is being deprived of a well rounded view of human health.

So, 115 years later since the Flexner Report, we, the public,  are the losers. In my town the local hospital just built a cancer center.  Next, a "heart institute" is being built.  That's nothing to be proud of.

Do you watch the news? Every news program is funded by pharmaceutical companies.  They want you to believe their is only one way to take care of your health: THEIR WAY.

They sell products to treat body symptoms.  However, these body symptoms are signs your body is helping itself. We don't want to hamper these symptoms, for the most part.   Relying on a drug that stops a normal protective response is illogical.  This interruption reduces the body's resilience.  If you feel a drug is necessary you should ask yourself, how long is this drug needed because eventually you are "robbing Peter to pay Paul."

Delaying the body's responses sets you up for weakness.  You won't be able to withstand the next stress.  That's why chiropractic makes sense.  It works with your best talent: self surveillance.  The body chooses its responses logically based on survival needs at the moment.

So, where are the options, second opinions and choices?  A medical system that is built upon a monopolizing should make us all very angry.

When the CDC states that 6 of 10 Americans has one chronic disease and 4 of 10 has 2 or more chronic diseases, how has the Flexner Report made our lives better?

I chose chiropractic  because it gives you back your power. We focus on the innate wisdom of the body.  We do not want to stick you in a disease category, because chiropractic doesn't add anything to the body nor take anything away from the body.
Chiropractic focuses on how the brain leads the body.  Chiropractic's focus is not on disease naming.

These large hospital systems won't be going away, but you can choose how you want to treat your body.

I teach the "Body Language Switch."

Try it.  If you don't like it, you can switch back to the disease model.

Retired Doctors Tell the Truth - Dead Doctors Get Buried (Part 2)

 PART 1

It's been almost ten years since the death of Dr. Stuart Graveline.

Will his knowledge and experience get buried?

This book was published after he passed away in 2016.  His wife documented how he died.  When he was in the hospital during his last few hours on this earth, a doctor was berating him for not being a statin.

Dr. Graveline was trying to explain to doctor who was of course a stranger, unaware of his medical history,  how he has been dealing with Parkinson's and neuropathy that was  brought on by the statin medication.

Nevermind, his heart was in perfect condition, at the age of 85.

Besides his books, available on Amazon (for now), his website is still available:  SpaceDoc.com.  I assume his wife pays for it to remain online.  How long will that last?

Stay tuned for more follow up on this series.  I'm going to reread his statin book and investigate more retired doctors.

Get Adjusted * Your Brain Will Thank You

** Chiropractic is the deliberate habit of living according to the brain's point of view.          The spine is an extension of the brain.

We utilize the spine to enhance the brain's protection and rebuilding activities. **

If you know what you're really made of, you will work in concert with your brain and body as a partner rather than sitting submissively on the sidelines because of a lack of information.

Independence Day Message: I Wanted Independence from a Failed System

I'm going to be selfish here.

Yes, it is Independence Day when we recall the reason this country was formed with its own unique Declaration of Independence.

I became a chiropractor to have my own independence.  I desired to be independent from a health care approach that robbed people of their dignity and independence.

I was a mental health therapist in a medical clinic that promoted the biological theory of mental illness.  It doesn't work.  It's not a secret that it doesn't work, but it's hard to break people from this belief.  Psychiatric drugs do damage. It robs people of their initiative, self worth.  They become apathetic and indifferent.  They also develop other chronic health conditions.

I wanted to introduce people to approaches that changed their lives for the better.

Chiropractic offers a profound option.  It's a brain switch via the connections through the spine.

It can be quite dramatic a times where a person can see the world in a whole new way.  (Image Courtesy: Discover Mag.)

It was my independence from a nagging negativity that can fester into a miserable existence.  I may sound dramatic, but it's very demoralizing watching people struggle to feel good about themselves when everything they try leads to disappointment.

Chiropractic focuses on how the body maintains itself and strives to recover and and replenish.  However, thanks to a government run college and licencing system, there is a bigger emphasis on pathology.

Body functions that are exhausted and overworked are called a disease process.  It takes on a life of its own that can turn into a downward spiral.  With less emphasis on a wellness model, the true genius of chiropractic is underutilized. This means there is more work to do spreading the word about chiropratic's approach to brain boosting.

The brain decides what you need based on its exposures.  Whether you've been injured in an accident or feel your activities are hindered by a gradual change in your movement, metabolism, etc., your brain is dealing with stressors that impact your overall energy.

Chiropractic helps you unravel it all so you can get back to balance in your life.

You are invited on a journey of wellness.

I became a chiropractor to offer people a different approach, a different option.  There is no freedom if there are no choices.  Sometimes it seems as if health care is monopolized by one model.  It takes a little digging to find your options. Chiropractic is one of those options.

Chiropractic does one thing: it modifies the nervous system to function at a useful state of ease.

You don't want excessive fight or flight.

You don't want the freeze or faint response to tank your reserves to the point of  no return.

You want to partner with the brain.  Chiropractic is your partner.

See you at the table....the adjusting table.
